The Farm
Farming is strictly linked to our farm holiday activity and our true hospitality; also the very name “Il Noceto” relates to our most typical cultivation: walnut trees. In 2001 when we started our farmhouse adventure, we planted a small patch of land with walnut trees which still grow to give us their delicious winter fruits. Close to the walnut trees we also grow other trees whose fruits we serve in any season and allow us to prepare tasty and genuine jams. But the oldest and most precious of all trees is the olive tree. Olive trees were already here on this high hill when we arrived: they tell us of the peace of mind and the labours of the people who have lived on this land for generations. In obedience to this tradition we also produce extra virgin olive oil, using the most advanced and the most traditional technology at the same time: the cold pressing. Our scented and tasty oil is used for our cuisine and as a dressing for salad and vegetables. You will find it also on sale among our produce. We grow our kitchen garden throughout the year to offer season-fresh vegetables to our guests. Near the garden you can see chickens and geese scratching about, whose delicious eggs are the key ingredients of our cakes. Not only do we take care of our poultry but we also devote ourselves to our “Bergamasca” sheep flock. This selected breed is the only one reared in Umbria and has been chosen for the quality and taste of its meat if compared with other breeds.
