Typical handicraft

In Umbria, the fabrication of objects for daily use has always been flanked by artistic products of high level which because of the contiguity, have contributed to the improvement of the aesthetics, as still demonstrated today by the pottery and textiles. Again, already in the Middle Ages, the institution of Arts and Corporations which firmly protected the quality of the workshops, indicates the cultural and economical importance that the craftsman took on.
This heritage, even though partially re-dimensioned due to growing industrialisation, has been jealously preserved in Umbria and today it is enhanced by the study and the revival of the techniques and the traditional iconography so as not to lose this great technical and creative background and to indicate new strategies of development.
